Gynecological Cancer Care
Gynecologic cancer is the growth of abnormal cells originating in the female reproductive organs. It comprises several types of cancer—cervical, ovarian, uterine (or endometrial), vaginal, vulvar and primary peritoneal cancers and gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD)—each of which has different signs and symptoms, risk factors and methods for prevention.
Each year, more than 80,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with gynecological cancer. Uterine cancer is the most common, with approximately 39,000 new cases expected to be diagnosed in the US annually, according to the National Cancer Institute.
The integrated cancer program at Sarasota Memorial's Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute uses a multidisciplinary team-based approach to leverage our specialists’ collective experience and expertise in diagnosing and treating even the most challenging gynecologic cancers.
Patients and families deserve the very best in cancer care. Women can count on Sarasota Memorial to provide the latest in all aspects of gynecologic (GYN) cancer care, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and survivorship resources.
