COVID-19 Testing, Visitation Policies & Concerns

As part of important safety measures we've instituted during the COVID-19 pandemic, all Labor & Delivery patients will be tested for COVID-19, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status

Click here for the current policies for visitors and support people for the Mother-Baby, Labor-Delivery, Pediatrics and NICU unitsWe encourage loved ones who cannot visit to connect through apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime or via phone, email or text. Click here for guidance on using these apps.

If you have questions about how these temporary changes may impact your birth experience at SMH-Sarasota, please call 941-313-0943.

Pregnant women are high risk for developing severe COVID-19. Developing COVID-19 during pregnancy increases a woman’s chances of having poor pregnancy outcomes, including pre-term delivery (before 37 weeks) and pregnancy loss. Vaccination before / during pregnancy is the safest way to prevent COVID-19 in pregnancy. It is highly recommended by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Sarasota Memorial and First Physicians Group. Click here to get the facts on COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy.
