Our Urology Team

Under the leadership of robotic surgery specialist and Medical Director Robert Carey, MD, PhD, the multidisciplinary urology team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Sarasota Campus includes surgeon Daniel Kaplon, MD, who specializes in da Vinci Robot-assisted surgical approaches for urologic cancers. The team has been nationally recognized for both its excellence and innovation in advanced surgical techniques.

Honors & Awards

SMH-Sarasota was the first Florida hospital to be designated as a Robotic Training Epicenter for urology-led gynecologic surgery, in recognition of the program’s experience and excellence. As a training epicenter, Sarasota Memorial hosts surgeons from across the nation as they study specialized techniques using the da Vinci surgical robot.
